Under new evaluation pattern of MSBSHSE, class IX students will not have oral tests

Under the new evaluation pattern set by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, there will be no longer oral tests in languages and written assessments in social sciences for class IX students. The circular regarding this was issued by the MSBSHSE on Thursday in which the details regarding the new evaluation pattern were given. In a circular it was stated that from now own students will have to appear for the written examination for all the three languages and social science and the exam for each of them will consist of 100 marks. Currently, the oral/assessments carry 20 marks and theory paper consists of 80 marks. “Oral exams for languages and the 20 marks-assignments in social sciences have been scrapped. We came across instances of schools inflating internal marks for their students to increase their overall score. The move is aimed to stop this practice,” said an official from the education department.
