International students in DU in fix because of the wrong address on the paper

International students in DU in fix because of the wrong address on the paper

Because of the careless mistake from the Mauritius Embassy, the first day of the 15 international students in India become unforgettable. Darshani landed in Delhi with her father and 15 other people from Mauritius as well in order to take the admission into Delhi University. The embassy, in Mauritius had told them that someone from the university will come to pick them up from the airport and will help them with the complete admission process. They waited for one hour on the airport but, when no one arrived they reached the university following the address which was written on the letter given to the students from Mauritius by the Mauritius Embassy.Tired and confused students sat on the floor while their parents ran around fanatically to figure out the admission process of the university. It was only around 3 pm when someone told them they needed to first visit the ICCR.“When we reached the Foreign Students Registry (FSR) office, at first, they did not tell us anything. In fact, they took our original documents and asked for the photocopies of our passport, for which also we had to run around. Had they told us about this in the morning, it would have saved a lot of time and trouble,” said DarshaniUniversity officials said that problem occurred because there was a gap in communication from Embassy in Mauritius.“The embassy in Mauritius should have communicated with the ICCR or even the FSR office. Then the students would not have suffered. It was I who called up ICCR and asked them to help the students. But now, we have verified their documents, so admissions will be done on Friday,” said Ashutosh Bhardwaj, deputy dean, FSR.“All students have to first report to their respective regional offices. In case of Delhi, it is the ICCR headquarters they have to come to. Students are then guided by our ROs for further action and are given their first three month's stipend. We came to know about these students from DU officials and are now following it up,” said an official spokesperson of the ICCR.
