On DFRC orders, school to refund excess fee to the students

The fee hike made by the Dnyanganga English Medium School, Hingane Khurd was termed as illegal by the District Fee Regulation Committee (DFRC), after which the committee instructed the school to adjust the excess fee amount into the accounts of the respective school student.A hearing was called by the DFRC on June 28 on the matter related to the excess fee charged by the school on the complaints of group of parents. According to the parent the school fee was fixed at 30,000 by the school management without taking any consent from the executive committee of the Parent Teacher Association (e-PTA). All the parents objected to the fee hike unanimously and asked the school to follow the due procedure before making any amendments in the fee structure, but the school management did not do so. Earlier, the school fee was INR 19,900. In its defense, the school produced the proof of the e-PTA meeting but DFRC order that the signature of the members were taken on the blank sheet and were pasted later on the attendance register and hence, the authenticity of the document produced cannot be verified and on July 20 DFRC restrained the school from making any changes in the fee structure without following the proper procedure. However, the DFRC allowed the school management to put fresh proposal regarding the fee hike before the e-PTA for the next session.
