UGC released new notification about qualifying criteria for the NET

University Grants Commission released an official notification regarding the changes introduced in the qualifying criteria for the NET.The NET exam is used to determine the eligibility of Indian National for the post of Assistant professor and Junior Research Fellowship for Indian Universities and Colleges.Official notification "University Grants Commission wishes to clarify that earlier qualifying criteria for UGC-NET exam involved qualifying top 15 per cent of those candidates in each subject and category, who obtained the minimum required marks in paper I, paper II and paper III according to the category of the candidates." "Subsequent to the orders of the High Court of Kerala, University Grants Commission had revised the procedure and criteria of qualifying candidates and as such it has been decided that 6 per cent of the total candidates who appear in the UGC-NET examination will be declared qualified". Qualifying percentage of the candidates in the previous UGC-NET exams: June 2015 UGC-NET: 4.83 per centDecember 2015 UGC-NET: 4.96 per centJuly 2016 UGC-NET: 4.08 per centJanuary 2017 UGC-NET: 3.99 per centFuture UGC-NET: 6.00 per cent (With revised qualifying criteria) About UGC NET UGC is a statutory organization which was established in 1956, by the union government. The main objective of the organization is to provide recognition to the Indian Universities and to provide funds to such recognized universities.NET exam is now conducted by the CBSE on behalf of the UGC for determining the candidates which are eligible for the post of Assistant professors or for the JRF.
