Textbooks of Rajasthan University to feature Akbar's defeat by Maharana Pratap

Now, students pursuing the MA in History at the University of Rajasthan (RU) will soon study about the defeat of Akbar in Haldighati Battle by the hands of Maharana Pratap. The new books will project the Rajput king as the emerged victor of the haldighati battle in 1576. However, according to the reports from HT, historical evidences of the battle show that Rajput king had to fled from the battle because of the casualties on his sides were enormous in number. So, many believe that the results of the war were in the favor of the Mughal Emperor. But, many reject the view including the history textbooks in the school as they claim that Akbar's discontent with this general Man Singh and Asaf Khan and his decision to not capture or kill the Rajput King, shows that the final results favored the Rajput King. Akbar's victory was questionedSchool Education Minister,  Vasudev Devani, in march argued that if Akbar won the battle of Haldighati then why would he attack Mewar six times after his win.Last month, a meeting was conducted by the RU's history department in which it was suggested to include the Dr Chandra Shekhar Sharma's Rashtra-Ratna Maharana Pratap in the list of recommended readings.The book by Chandra Shekhar portrays Maharana Pratap as a great fighter and the emerged victor of the Haldighati battle.
