UP students all geared up to learn about GST

After Pune and Delhi University incorporated GST, the new tax regime, in their commerce courses; now students of UP university and colleges will also be taught the same in commerce courses in order to create a workforce of GST ready trained professional. Inclusion of the new tax regime in the syllabus is important as it will help the students in understanding the workings of the GST and the decision to include GST in the course was taken at the vice chancellor's conference held in Lucknow on Thursday. Deputy Chief Minister while briefing the media about the conference said "Vice chancellors of universities in the state will take a call on how they will include GST in the syllabus". State governor Ram Naik was also present in the meeting from the start and sad that state government is of firm belief that GST would drive the growth of the nation to new levels. GST is the largest tax reform in the nation since independence and was launched by Pranab Mukherjee and Narendra Modi on July 1. Students of Delhi University of commerce stream will also learn about the GST however, the basic knowledge about the GST will be given to the students of all streams. The academic council of University had agreed to include GST in the syllabus of courses such as BCom (Hons), BCom (Prog) and BA (Prog).
