6 month long course on GST launched by Lucknow University

Just a day after, when all the Vice Chancellors of the universities agreed to introduce the new tax regime- GST in commerce as well as management courses, Lucknow University decide to roll out its 6 month long certificate course on the GST. GST was launched in the country on July 1, which will absorb all the indirect taxes on most of the goods and services.On July 6 the decision to introduce the new tax regime as a Subject was taken in a meeting in the presence of Governor Ram Naik. Ram Naik is also the Chancellor of these universities. “Tax regime has changed. Thus, along with studying cost account, income tax etc, it is necessary for the student to study the new tax as well. The decision was unanimous to introduce GST as a subject in commerce as well as management courses in universities,” said Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma. According to the reports from Times of India the admission forms for the course will be available from 1st week of August 2017.The statement issued by the Lucknow University read "The four-credit course will run in the faculty of commerce. The four credits include two credits for skill development and training and the other two for theory".The University is also planning to organize an open seminar for faculty members, students, traders and businessmen on the GST and the key speakers for the seminar will be prominent tax officers, charted accountants and consultants.
