Merit Position of students who had applied to DU can change
The Delhi High Court has ordered the DU to inform all the students and colleges that re-evaluation process for class 12 exams by CBSE is underway on the request of some students and that merit position of the students can change after re-evaluation is done. Many students, who have applied for the re-evaluation process, have found hope in the court's order as the admission process in the DU is already underway and many top colleges have already closed their doors for new admissions. The order was passed by the court based on the three earlier observations and decisions of the High Court-- in April 2011, August 2014, and September 2014 -- according to which the university has agreed to admit all the students irrespective of the seats available if, they are able to re-produce their mark-sheet before the last cut-off date of the admission process, which is August 31. “Therefore, as a matter of abundant caution, the students who are seeking admission as well as the colleges need to be kept informed of the pendency of the present writ petition and the fact that re-evaluation of marks…is underway,” said the bench. It has also directed the bench and DU to file the status report latest by Wednesday.M K Pandit, chairman of DUʼs admission committee, said "We have a guideline which states that if a student, after evaluation, has an increase in marks, he can go and take admission under the subsequent list. The only rider is that they will be given admission in the college if seats are empty".DU however, cannot deny the admission to the candidate after the re-evaluation whether or not there are empty seats in the college.
