Physical safety is the main concern of the Indian students planning to study in US: Survey

According to a new survey, many Indian students who are planning to study in US are worried about their Physical safety and also about the feeling of being welcomed their by the locals. According to The institute of International Education (IIE), USA's President, Donald Trump's order to restrict the entry of the nationals from six Muslim majority countries, is what, scaring the Indian nationals the most. It further said that there are more than million international students who are pursuing their higher education in the US and on yearly basis contribute about $36 billion to the economy of America. With the new orders and these economic figures stakes are high.According to the survey highest level of concern among the students are from Middle East countries, followed by the India.Thirty one percent of the institutions in the USA are worried that the students from the Middle East, who have already accepted the admission offers for the fall session may not even arrive and other 20% are concerned that Indian students may not arrive on campus in the fall season. “This uncertainty raises valid concerns as to whether students from the Middle East may be deterred from US study,” it said. “Securing and maintaining a visa is reported as the top concern among these students and was reported by 46 % of institutions, while feeling welcome in the United States was an almost equal concern, with 41% of institutions noting so from their conversations with students,” it added.According to the IIE survey, Indian students "have a high level of concern about potential study in the United States, 80% of institutions responded that physical safety was the most pronounced concern for Indian students, while 31% of institutions indicated that feeling welcome was also a concern".Institutes in the USA are worried about that in the midst of all these chances are, students from India may take admissions in the other leading host countries which offers students visas more quickly.The IIE said that despite all the uproar about the safety in the US might be flagging but the interest of the students about studying in the US remains the same.
