24 percent of FYJC seats are vacant after nine rounds of counseling



21,295 seats which are 24 percent of the total seats at FYJC (First Year Junior College) are still vacant even after the nine rounds of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).According to the numbers revealed by the Deputy Director's Office (Pune) more students have shown there preference for the arts and commerce streams in Marathi medium over English medium. Maximum numbers of students of class XI have shown interest in Science stream (37920) followed by the commerce (36,955), arts (8,790) and vocational course (2,444). There are 271 junior colleges of which 160 colleges registered 100 percent admissions. 67 junior colleges of which 28 belonging to science stream have less than 20 registered students.Total numbers of admissions for the current academic year were 71,055 of which 57,417 were completed under CAP, while 13,638 seats were under quota. In-house admissions topped the list under quota (7,995) followed by the management (2,628) and minority quota (2,880).
