Updated Human Rights course for police personnel by the IGNOU
Recently, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) signed a MoU with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) under which the students of the university can now study, new advanced program on human rights for police personnel.The new program will be jointly developed by NHRC and IGNOU with the aim of creating awareness among the judiciary, police personnel, public servants, parliamentarians, universities, colleges and common people.The MoU was signed by the IGNOU admin registrar SK Sharma and NHRC joint secretary JS Kochher on Wednesday in New Delhi. “IGNOUʼs Inter University Consortium (IUC) platform and SWAYAM portal will be used for disseminating information on Human Rights to the proposed target groups. IGNOUʼs regional centers will be used as training centers for spreading human rights education. The material developed will be in the form of e-books and printed books,” IGNOU vice chancellor Ravindra Kumar said. The six units of the program and the related e-content will be updated by the IGNOU University on its official website. The new program aims to simplify the process of learning by leveraging the power of interactive media and multimedia tool so that all the police force from constables to sub-inspector can easily understand the course to a greater extent.
