Sardar Patel's Birth Anniversary: Unity run to be organized by the Universities

According to the notice on UGC's official website, MHRD has asked all the higher educational institutes in the country to organize ' Nation Salutes Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel' on October 31, 2017.The educational institutes have also been directed to celebrate the day by organizing the events based on theme of unity which can reflect the Patel's efforts to unite a diverse country like India under single political, socio-economic and administrative entity.Some of the events suggested by the ministry are: Unity runs in cities, towns and rural areasInter-Department competitions in the area around unityDrama, songs and plays on the theme of unityHistorical essays on the character and contribution of Sardar PatelCompetition of designing on the theme of unityCompetition for writing, singing and composing original songs on the theme of unity Ministry said that these events should be given top priority and asked the universities to click photographs and send them to the sardarpatelhrd2017@gmail.com.In case of Unity Runs, the local Doordarshan should be informed about the same for coverage.
