BSEB plans to give 50% objective questions in board exams

BSEB plans to give 50% objective questions in board exams

After seeing the poor results of students of class X and class XII in 2017, BSEB has decided to give 50% objective questions in all papers in the board exams of 2018.In order to ensure the transparency, OMR sheet will be given to the students and all the objective questions will have to be answered on the OMR sheet. Earlier, only science papers used to have 40 percent objective questions. The pass percentage of the students of class X is 2017 was 50.12 percent and in class XII it was 35.25 percent which was the worst in the last two decades.Since the toppers scam, the board has introduced several corrective measures such as barcoding of answer sheet and now it is looking to improve the pass percentage of the students in the board exams. BSEB chairman Anand Kishor told reporters here: “We have decided to change the examination pattern for Classes X and XII from 2018. All theory papers will have 50 per cent objective marks. There will also be short questions of two marks each.” Students will have to answer questions on OMR sheets only, he said. “We are changing the examination pattern with two targets — to improve pass percentage and ensure meritorious students getting high percentage can compete with students of other boards.”
