Center to grant permission for research studies
Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan said that the center has decided to grant permission for setting 12 centers which will teach research oriented studies in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a function he said 'The union government has decided to grant permission to set up 12 centers in Tamil Nadu to teach research-oriented studies on Atomic energy and other science subjects and only select candidates would be admitted.'"We have requested the union government to grant more such centers at least one in each Assembly Segment," he said. "The state government's ambition is to make Tamil Nadu the number one state in school education in the country, for which already more than Rs. 26,000 crore has been sanctioned in the state budget," he said. He further said that 3000 smart classrooms will be started in the government schools in the current academic year and this number will increase to 10,000 next year.Speaking about the performance of the students who appeared for class 10/12 exams, minister said that 10 percent of the students failed in some subjects and to help these students special classes will be conducted in December.He also said that proper coaching will be given to the students who have completed class 12 so that they can appear for the competitive exams held by the Center.
