6th Pay Commission: Teachers move Delhi High Court
On Wednesday, a teachers' body moved to Delhi High Court seeking the directions for the Delhi Government to grant minimum wage of over 17,000 to all the TGT teachers in government schools according to the 6th pay commission. A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar heard the plea and asked the counsel for the Delhi government to take instructions on the matter and inform the court about the matter before January 17 next year. The PIL was filed by the teachers' body named as Adhyapak Shakti Manch which said 'TGTs under the Directorate of Education (DoE) are entitled to a minimum pay of Rs 17,140 but the government has interpreted the schedule of pay-fixation Rules, 2008, to mean that those teachers who were appointed on or after January 1, 2006 were entitled to this pay'.The plea further said that Delhi government's DoE did not pay minimum pay of INR 17140 to all the TGTs and the pay scales of the teachers' were re-fixed illegally. The plea said that allowing the petition will benefit large number of teachers.
