India's first superpower drone designed by IIT Kharagpur
A research group at IIT Kharagpur designed India's first homemade superpower drone. The drone is specially created for emergency situations and has been named after an ancient warrior from the epic Mahabharata,'Bhim'. Physically, the drone is less than a meter in length and according to the creators of Bhim, its unique feature lies in unmanned aerial device's state-of-the-art protection shield, superior imaging ability and other unknown abilities. According to the reports the drone is also capable of creating an ad-hoc Wi-Fi zone within the radius of 1km when it flies overhead. "Such advanced built-in intelligence is not available in drones now. The design is completely in-house. The controlling and guiding algorithms of the drone have been developed in our lab," said Sudip Mishra, a faculty member of the computer science and engineering department.BHIM can be for and in the following situations: Aimed for the emergency situations in the conflict affected area, the drone has a battery which can keep it alive for seven hours which can help the armed forces in creating a seamless communication network in such areas. It is capable of handling the long flight time and can drop emergency supplies in the conflict affected areas using the parachutes. It can also be helpful in carrying out search and rescue missions. For the boundary walls, the drone can check their integrity and detect intrusions, if any. The drone is also equipped with the vision based guidance and has a built-intelligence so that it can detect the crowded areas and can land in a safer place.
