JEE Main 2017 offline exam today: Over 10.2 lakh candidates to test their fate
JEE main exam 2017 is all set to be held today and in the exam more than 10.2 lakh students will compete against each other at 1,781 centers across the country in order to get the admission in various Indian Engineering Colleges including the country's prestigious IITs.The Central Board of Secondary Education is the body responsible conducting the JEE Main exam. JEE Main exam is an All India level based engineering exam which is conducted for admitting the students into IITs, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IITs), deemed universities and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTI).Paper I and Paper II are two parts which combined together forms the JEE main exam.Paper I is for BE/B.Tech aspirants and is conducted in both computer-based (online) and paper-pen (offline) mode. Paper II is conducted in paper-pen mode and is for the B Arch/B Planning aspirants. Candidates who wish to appear in the JEE advance 2017 will first have to clear the JEE Main first.HRD ministry has introduced the following two changes in the JEE main exam: JEE Main exam will have no weightage for the class 12 marks in calculating the rank.Admissions into IITs/NITs/IIITs and other CFTIs are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE (Main) ranks and candidates who wish to qualify for these institutions must secure at least 75% in class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks in class 12 are 65%. This year IIT Madras will conduct the JEE Advanced exam and the results for the JEE Mains 201 exam are expected to be declared on 27 April 2017.
