PM Modi at IIT Gandhinagar; Speaks on the importance of e-literacy
PM Modi will address the 'Digital Saksharata Abhinanadan Samaroh' at IIT Gandhinagar today. "The event will highlight significance of e-literacy in addressing the issue of digital divide and promoting digital financial transactions to digitally empower the society," a statement said.The government runs 'Pradhanmantri Grameen Digital Saksharata Abhiyan (PMGDISHA)' which aims to make six crore people of the rural India digitally literate. The program also aims at providing equal opportunities to the rural citizens which will help them in participate actively in the nation building and will allow them to access the livelihood through digital technology, devices and services. So far more than 55 lakh citizens have registered themselves on the PMGDISHA portal for receiving the training in digital literacy and out of them 22 lakh have been certified in the same after successfully completing the training and assignment.Apart for PM Modi, Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad, Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaibhai Rupani and around 7,000 training center operators — Common Service Centre Village Level Entrepreneurs (CSC-VLEs) will also be present at the event.
