To prevent the shutting down of coaching centers, Delhi Students move to HC

On Monday, several students residing the North Delhi approached the Delhi HC to prevent the shutting down of the coaching centers which are running in residential properties.Students said that shutting down these coaching centers will impact their careers.Students filed the application regarding the same before the bench of chief justice Gita Mittal and justice C Hari Shankar.These are the students who are studying in coaching centers situated at Outram Lines, Kingsway Camp and Mukherjee Nagar. The petition is listed for listening on October 9 and bench is likely to take the plea.Students told the HC that Civil services mains, judiciary and staff selection commission examinations are just around the corner and they have already submitted full fees to these coaching centers. “The applicants are at the most crucial stage of their life where their future will depend on their performance in the competitive exams and any hindrance and wastage of time will leave them behind, spoiling their future. There are around 20,000 students studying in the area of Mukherjee Nagar and the decision of the court would directly affect the career and future of the students,” said the plea file by advocates Arvind Singh and Amit Kocher, who are representing the students. Petition against these institutions was filed by the Delhi residents Sanjay Singhal and Kanchan Gupta who complained that municipal corporation has allowed the illegal running of these institutions in the residential area. These institutions are causing overcrowding of the area and a great nuisance to the residents.“The main roads in front of the building being converted into parking space for the students and the employees of the coaching centers, creating bottleneck for the traffic apart from the nuisance due to noise and lack of water and electricity,” the petitioners said.
